Krokus Gallery mounts The Summer exhibitions since 2011. It is the last exhibition of spring season of the gallery before gallery holidays and before upcoming fall season. The group show presents a selection of works from the studios of the gallery artists. This year the exhibition brings closer the works of four Slovak artists: František Demeter, Svätopluk Mikyta, Rastislav Podoba, and Erik Šille.
František Demeter (1975) dedicated himself to painting, drawing, collage, and spatial installation in the area of expanded painting. The first solo exhibition of František Demeter in Krokus Gallery was held in fall of 2014 with the title NO YES NO. In 2015 Demeter became a finalist of The Oskár Čepan Award. In spring of 2016 Demeter exhibited his works at the group exhibition in Central Slovakian Gallery in Banská Bystrica with the title The Degree of abstraction in a everyday life decreases.
Svätopluk Mikyta (1973), his works are characterized by his concern over political and historical context. Mikyta always specifically responds to given social and spatial connections with his collages, drawings, graphics, installations and objects. He is a laureate of The Oskár Čepan Award of 2008 and also the winner of Strabag Art Award of 2011. The first solo exhibition of Svätopluk Mikyta in Krokus Gallery took place in spring 2014 with the title Variabilita turba (curated by Mira Keratová). In 2015 his works were part of the collective exhibition in Krokus Gallery with the name Some of my stories I know, some I listen to, and some I can see. At the beginning of this year Mikyta exhibited in Futura Gallery in Prague and his recent exhibition takes place in Deák Erika Gallery in Budapest.
Rastislav Podoba (1975), painting, in which Podoba actualized long tradition of mimetic display and realism, plays a dominated role in his art production. Podoba was a finalist of VÚB Painting Award in 2006, 200/, and 2009 and he is a laureate of Martin Benka Price of 2009. In fall 2015 Krokus Gallery introduced his second solo exhibition with the name Artificial flowers (curated by Zuzana L. Majlingová). In May of 2015 his solo exhibition was held in The East Slovak Gallery in Košice with the title The Cycle (curated by Beata Jablonská).
Erik Šille (1978) dedicated himself to painting, graphic and objects inspired by Pop art, comics, graffiti, and popular culture in general, including the language of advertising and marketing. Šille is a laureate of Igor Kalný Award, winner of VÚB Painting Award, and laureate of Tatra Banka Foundation Art Award in the category Young Creator of 2010. In the turn of years 2015 and 2016, Šille presented his current artworks at the solo exhibition titled Anatomy of quandary in Krokus Gallery.
